Clik here to view. We’ve already explored what you need to do to launch your company and how to steal more time to do it, so today I wanted to take a closer look at how you can improve the way you spend your time when you manage to steal a moment from your busy day.
Productivity is the name of the game when it comes to limited time.
If you’re not efficient with the time you have, you’re not being productive. If you’re not being productive, then you’re probably not making progress toward your goals. This is the importance of using your time effectiviely … and it’s something a lot of entrepreneurs struggling with.
Let’s take a closer look at a few things that will help you be super-productive with your time.
The Notebook Is A Launch Pad
This is where your productivity starts.
For me, the pen and notebook enable me to brainstorm on paper, which I need as a visual person. There’s a lot of major stuff going on in the world right now, so it’s challenging for me to remember the delicate, undeveloped ideas that pass through my mind throughout the day. This is why I use a notebook … but it’s not the only reason.
My notebook is a launch pad for ideas.
It’s where I throw ideas throughout the day, so I can find them later when it’s time to take more ideas to the next level.
The To-Do List Isn’t For Brainstorming
The reason why so many people find themselves trapped in the trap of the infamous ever-growing, never-shrinking list is because this is the first step of productivity instead of the second.
When you skip the brainstorm session in the notebook, you end up brainstorming with your to-do list, which is why it grows faster than it shrinks.
Brainstorm your ideas before creating a to-do list.
Avoid creating your to-do list in your notebook, as you’ll spend too much time tinkering with it instead of executing. It also tends to fade away as you fill your book with ideas, which then leads to the re-creation of the list to bring it into immediate view (last few pages you wrote). I use a premium app called Clear, which is clean, simple, and rewards you with beautiful sounds and awards (I just unlocked the night owl theme because I completed a task I’d set). There’s also plenty of free options and native options for most devices.
Achieve True Focus through Digital Meditation
Discover what helps you focus.
There’s no secret solution to a lack of focus.
You simply need to spend time learning how you work best. I’ll share how I achieve focus, but just know that what works for me may not work for you as well.
When I sit down to work, I keep my to-do list front and center and listen to a lot of dubstep music. Unlike a lot of people, quiet doesn’t really work for me. I need to have a swarm of energy around me, which is why I work in public most of the time, as well as within me emotionally.
It’s crucial you limit the potential for distraction as much as possible. The smallest distraction can steal hours from your day if you’re not careful … even checking the time can result in learning of a new notification that leads to social activity.
Shut out the world in your own way, and focus on your to-do list, which should only include tasks you want to achieve. This is what I find works best in terms of increasing productivity.
